At Beyond Abilities, safety to our staff and our participants or travellers is our number one priority. Our events and programs are planned in great detail to ensure that everyone is safe and has a great time. 

 

All our events and programs are guided by qualified and experienced staff. Each Adventure World program or tour will have a qualified First Aid Officer in attendance. 

 

Staff will also assist where possible and if necessary to manage money and medication for a participants or traveller if requested*.

 

(All other requirements will need to be negotiated at the time of booking and may incur further costs)

 

 

 

 

Support Staff Ratios

Pink (1:1)

 

The pink category is suited for Participants needing full assistance in the following areas:

 

· Personal Care (Toileting Showering, Brushing Teething)

· Physical Assistance (Dressing, Walking,assistance to prepare meals and to eat, packing and                     unpacking)

· Individuals in wheelchairs - manual or electric

· Behavioural Issues (Needs constant supervision at home and in the community; challenging                     behaviours; requiring constant social and road safety support)

· Money Management (Cannot manage money independently)

· Administering Medication *

 

Participants in this category will receive one on one support throughout the entire service or program they book into.

Blue (1:2)

 

The blue category is suited for participants who have some road safety awareness, is able to stay with the group and need minimal assistance or prompting with:

 

· Personal Care (Toileting Showering, Brushing Teething)

· Physical Assistance (Slow walking, some assistance to prepare meals and to eat, prompting                     to choose appropriate attire for the day)

· Behavioural Issues (Needs some supervision in the community; requires some social support however     can and will participate in activities and outings)

· Money Management (May need some prompting to handle money)

· Medication (Prompting/reminders to take medication)

Participants in this category will receive support from one staff member for every two participants (1:2 staff to participant ratio)

Green (1:4)

 

The green category is suited to participants who are mostly independent in most areas and require minimal support in any of the following areas

 

· Independent with personal care

· Independent with meal preparation and eating

· Has good social skills but may require some support to interaction with other members of the               community

· Is able to stay with the group and is able to follow instructions

· Has adequate safety and road safety awareness

· Can manage their money in small amounts but may need some verbal prompting

· Needs minimal verbal prompting.

 

Participants in this category will receive support from one staff member for every three participants

(1:4 staff to participant ratio)

Orange (1:6)

 

The orange category is suited to participants who are independent in most areas and do not require support in any of the following areas

 

· Independent with personal care

· Independent with meal preparation and eating

· Has good social skills but may require some verbal prompting to interaction with other members of        the and the community appropriately

· Is able to stay with the group and is able to follow instructions

· Independent safety and road safety skills and awareness

· Can manage their money in any amounts but may need some verbal prompting

· Needs minimal verbal prompting.

 

Participants in this category will receive support from one staff member for every six participants

(1:6 staff to participant ratio)
